Bob and Doris Davies - Irricana, AB
Editing and Teaching Missionary
Doris was raised in a Christian family and grew up attending a small Country Church. She loved Jesus and served in the Sunday School with the children. However, during her senior year of high school, Doris rebelled against her faith and embarked on a tumultuous journey. She got married, had children, and eventually went through a divorce. After upgrading her high school marks, Doris attended nursing school at Mount Royal in Calgary and graduated in 1994. She was blessed to get a full-time job at the Peter Lochhead Hospital through God's grace. In 1998, a friend introduced her to Bob, and they got married in 2000.
In 2005, Doris felt a strong desire to attend the local church in her hometown, which had started a few years earlier. The gospel was preached there, and Doris returned to her faith. Bob also started attending the church, and he soon became a born-again Christian. They were baptized together, and they continued attending and serving that church until 2020 when they moved to Redemption Calvary North.
Doris worked as a nurse in the same medical unit for over 20 years, but she had to take an early retirement due to her medical condition. In 2018, Robert and Doris attended a cover-to-cover Bible study in Olds, Alberta, called Interlocked, taught by Jen and Amos Kwok. They met Robert and Janette and Rob's mom Carol, and the study had a tremendous impact on their lives. In 2020, Robert was looking for a co-teacher, and Doris's name came up. They started teaching Interlocked at Grace Baptist Church in April 2020. Robert encouraged Doris to join ICM as a part-time missionary. With prayer and support from others, Doris made the decision to join ICM, and her husband Bob is supportive and happy for her. She is excited to use her gifts to serve the Lord.
